OpTech awarded $4.5 million contract by U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command for TacRS mission

STERLING, Virginia — Optimum Technologies LLC (OpTech), a company specializing in space mission design and space hardware assembly, integration and test services, was awarded a $4.5 million contract by the United States Space Force (USSF)’s Space Systems Command (SSC)’s Space Safari Office to provide an optical imaging payload, and surrounding avionics and software, for the Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) mission, VICTUS SURGO, projected for launch in 2026.

The contract, awarded on 28 October 2024 under a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 3 agreement, is funded by the U.S. Space Force.

The optical imaging payload consists of a telescope and camera, processing electronics, and software. The payload will be built in OpTech’s recently expanded satellite manufacturing facility in Sterling, VA, then delivered to the bus for space vehicle integration and test.
